So we hear you’re writing a novel. Or thinking about it, at least.
The process of writing a book – starting, finishing, everything in-between – is difficult, to say the least. What’s even more complicated, however, is trying to explain to all your Facebook and IRL friends why the heck you’re doing this to yourself.
You don’t even know. So how are you supposed to explain it to someone else?!
Luckily, we understand. That’s why we’re happy to introduce the Novelty Revisions: Undiscovered Authors project.
Never heard of it? Here’s the undiscovered scoop.
What is it?
Undiscovered Authors is a brand-new project looking to shine the virtual spotlight on aspiring novelists who are thinking about starting, struggling to write, just about to finish or desperately hoping to publish a novel.
How does it work?
No pre-planned phone call, historically long bus ride or awkward Skype video chat required. Those interested only have to provide their name (first name only is fine) and email address. The “interview” is completed by filling out a user-friendly Google Form. Responses are transformed from an Excel document into a professionally crafted Q&A, all about YOU!
Who can participate?
Anyone who considers himself or herself an aspiring novelist is eligible to participate. You don’t have to ever have even finished writing a book before. All we ask is that you have never officially published a novel. Those who have self-published their work, i.e. through Amazon, are still eligible to participate.
I’m interested! What’s the next step?
Arranging an interview with Novelty Revisions is simple. Just follow the steps below and you’re on your way to becoming one of our very first featured interviewees!
1. Provide your contact information.
Once you submit your name and preferred email address, we will send you a link to the standard interview form. This allows you time to write and submit your responses easily without having to set up a time to chat or wait for an email response.
2. Fill out the form.
Questions are worded as simply and straightforward as possible. You will be asked 10 “just for fun” questions, 10 questions about your writing, and four questions that will help us improve the promotion and structure of the project in the future.
3. Submit a photo.
Include a photo to go along with your interview – of yourself, your cover art, your fish, whatever you want to visually represent you. Please include a photo credit. If you do not prefer to include a photo, indicate “photo not preferred” in your email instead.
When your interview has been drafted, edited and published, we will notify you via email with the link to the article.
How long do I have to complete the interview form?
There is no submission deadline. Once you have requested and received the form, you may complete it on your own time, whenever is most convenient for you. We only ask that you complete the form in full. Incomplete forms will be thrown out.
What’s in it for me?
Add the interview to your portfolio, LinkedIn profile or social media platforms – promote it as little or as much as you want. Because this is all about YOU, it’s all for your benefit. This is a great opportunity to talk about your work, your life as a writer and your literary plans for the near or distant future.
Sounds like a good deal to us.
