Last night I learned that Steakburgers from Steak ‘n Shake are even better at three o’clock in the morning than they are at any other time of day. Also: college people that attend prayer vigils are really nice, and they WILL let you use their own personal bathroom at 1:30 in the morning. (I don’t think I’ve ever had to pee at one thirty in the morning. But apparently when you’re awake it happens.)
The only thing that I really truly remember from the whole trip was the car ride there. Weird, right? I know. But everything else was all a blur. A happy, awesometastical blur, but still a blur. Everything sort of got mushed together when I started getting sleepy. Sadly, that was at about nine o’clock. But during the whole trip, I probably only slept for ten to fifteen minutes, at the very most. And that was in the prayer chapel, after we’d gotten back from our late-night food run. My first ever, by the way. It was thrilling.
I remember frustration and longing. I remember joy and satisfaction. I remember my feet and ankles screaming at me after our set because I’d stood in one place for two and a half hours without hardly moving at all. (That stage was really soft, though.) I do remember, at one point early on in the trip, wanting to go home. But something kept me there. And I’m so glad I stayed! Believe me.
So the good news is, I didn’t fall asleep standing up. That was a whole chunk of satisfaction in itself. I don’t remember half the prayers I prayed or most of the things I said to my friends in my state of sleep deprivation, but that stuff doesn’t even matter. I had a good time. An amazing time. It was a successful trip; it really was.
I’m too tired to do anything. This is the most writing I’ve done all day. I can’t think. I’ve watched Finding Nemo, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and thought about watching The Lion King. But you do realize that would mean I would have to pick up the video, turn on the VCR, eject The Jungle Book, make sure it’s rewound, put it in its own case, put The Lion King in, and press play–don’t you? That’s too much for me. It took me two minutes just to write out the steps. This is depressing.
It was just recently 1:11. I wish you could wish at 1:11 just like you can wish at 11:11, but I don’t think it’s as effective, even if you use peanut butter on the wish. I did that yesterday, by the way. I thought it was a pretty good wish. I’m not really expecting it to come true, but it was fun to imagine what would happen if it did. Don’t you just love that? Imagination is the greatest gift ever given to children. It’s sad that the majority of adults lose their imaginations and get boring. Not all of them, but a lot of them.
I just found out that Meg Cabot is coming to my state! It was so exciting. She’s doing a book signing a few Thursdays from now. I wouldn’t ever be able to go, because it’s awfully not close to where I live, but I don’t think she’s come this close to me before. Exciting, exciting! I could always imagine that I get to meet her. That would be entertaining.
I’m not really sure what I want to do now. Maybe I’ll read the book my friend let me borrow six months ago.
