There’s something about the fact that I haven’t seen the sun come out since last Friday that makes me feel unloved. I thought the sun loved me! It doesn’t even feel like summer! I haven’t sat outside, tanned, or gone to the pool yet. I feel like school is just around the corner all over again. If the clouds don’t go away soon, I might slip into a vitamin D-deprived coma.
I went to a White Sox game on Sunday instead of attending my best friends’ graduation ceremony. They didn’t mind. They weren’t too happy about me missing their parties, but it’s okay. We had a party of our own Monday night–another Operation of amazingness. We watched Rent and played Ten Fingers. I’m not going to lie; it was pretty amazing. Except for the rain. That wasn’t so great.
Pictures are the most entertaining way to capture memories. When we have these parties, the only way I remember half of the things that go on at two o’clock in the morning is by looking at the pictures and videos we take. I never knew how much value pictures could have. I always saw them, before I met these girls, as posed family shots my parents made us take at holidays and special events.
It’s been hard the past month preparing to watch them go. I’ve written too many poems, songs, and short stories to count about how I felt. Saying goodbye has never been easy–especially to best friends.
I realized at this party, though, that I’m never really going to say goodbye. We’re too close to grow apart. Movies, dancing to “Love Story” and staying up until four o’clock in the morning telling secrets that would never leave the room are my proof. The pictures we took during that time, of course, ensure that I’ll never forget. If I’m walking in the middle of the street and get hit by a bus–and live–I’ll have our hundreds and hundreds of pictures to bring back the memory of our past.
I don’t have any major goals this week. To be completely honest, I’m taking this week off of life. Next week I start summer school, to get ahead in my classes. That’s when I’ll return to a slice of reality. All of the goals I have? I’ll work as hard as I can to acheive them as soon as I step out of that classroom on Monday. I’ve been working so hard lately, studying and stressing. I think not doing anything is going well for me.
Besides, you know, there isn’t much to do with no sun out. Usually at this time I would be in a tank top in shorts, tanning my face and legs, maybe reading a book. But it’s a bit chilly! And there’s no point when there are grey coulds scowling at me. You know how that is.
So I’m stuck inside today, again. What to do, what to do?
Maybe I’ll work on my novel. I haven’t done that in awhile, you know. I haven’ t written much of anything in awhile. School was so stressful the last month-and-a-half or so. I’m really hoping that I did well on my finals. I guess we’ll find out on Saturday, when the school sends grades out. I’ll be sure to let you know.
I got my ACT score! And I’m proud. I hardly studied!
Love&hugs, Meg-darling♥
