Reminiscence: The Movie (In My Dreams)

It happened just like I thought it would: #14 and behind.

Chapter 27 has been really difficult to get through. I worked on it most of the afternoon and into the evening, writing a few words here and there. I know exactly what I want to happen next chapter, and the next, and so on. But it’s this one that I’m stuck on that’s making me fall behind. I have just a little over 17,000 words to go before I reach the site’s declared winning number. I have much more than that to go to reach my own personal goal, 61,000.

A slow writing day wasn’t something I’d been expecting. In fact, it was something I’d almost been dreading. Now that I’ve had one, I’m almost more motivated to write like crazy. But there’s also school, which I apparently have to get an A in this semester or my mother’s going to murder my novel. It’s a lot to balance, and for some reason, my body has begun shutting down at 10:30 central time.

The problem with that is, I lie awake almost an entire hour before I actually fall asleep, thinking about my story. If you’re not a writer, I can understand why you might find that a little weird. It’s true: not everyone stares at their ceiling fans at eleven o’clock at night thinking about the novel they’re writing. But if you’re a writer, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Sometimes, the scenes play out in your head until you’ve thought through them in as many different ways as possible. Sometimes you choose the one that works the best before you fall asleep. Sometimes the decision is left to be made until morning.

If my book was ever turned into a movie (or published, for that matter), I would want this guy to play Sean.

Owen Willson

Owen Wilson is a really amazing actor! I loved him in this movie. And how he looks in the picture above is pretty much how I picture my main character, but a tad bit younger.

I’m at the point in the book right now where he’s pretty much the jerk that the reader is supposed to hate, but for other reasons love him at the same time. He’s in two parts of the story, both in the part that takes place now, in 2009, and in the parts that take place in 2005. You’d have to read the book to understand, and I’m not about to give anything away. I think that I’ve fallen in love with it, though. I might cry when I’m finished.

Believe it or not, I have yet another econ test today. I’m not sure how I did on the one we took yesterday, on chapter 23. I know for a fact, though, that I didn’t fail. I doubt that I’ll fail this one—especially if I pay extra attention in class today. I’m already behind in my word count and the rankings—what do I have to lose?

I’m really hoping, though, that I can get a lot done today. But until then, it’s off to school. After today, there are only eleven more school days (one of them being my birthday. Smiles!) until I’m free for the rest of the summer. I can’t wait until that day.

Have a good one, and remember: tell your friends! Even though seven hits is better than none.

Love&hugs, Meg♥
