Winner (Technically)

Victory is mine! Well…..technically.

It didn’t happen until 11:21 p.m. last night, when I was pushing myself to the limit. I was tired! But I got to one of my favorite chapters, one I’ve been brainstorming since I started writing Reminiscence, and it was all uphill from there. I managed eight words past my goal, bringing me to a total of 50,008 words, putting me in the #16 spot, and adding my username to the winners’ list. I still have plenty more to go—hopefully enough to reach my goal of 61,000 words. If I don’t, it’s no big deal. But it would be really cool if I did.

I’m not going to act like I’m not excited: it feels really good to be as motivated to write a novel as I am right now. It’s been a long time, perhaps even a lifetime, since I’ve written something that I’ve really liked and had confidence in. I’ve worked really hard on the dialogue, which has always been my weak point. In all honesty, I think I’m doing okay.

I got almost 2,000 words written during class yesterday (because, as always, Mr. H kept on talking and talking), which helped bring me closer to my goal. And I’ll admit that I didn’t think I would get there. It really just goes to show what you can do when you really try. I mean, I thought about giving up for the day plenty of times (that happens). But I’m big on promises.

That’s why I’m going to make you a promise right now! Yay!

You’ve been listening to me talk about this book nonstop for a couple weeks now, right? First off, I’m glad you’ve put up with me that long. If you’ve given up waiting for me to talk about something more interesting or vital to your survival, I’m sorry (I really am). But if you haven’t, there’s a lot coming your way. This includes the first chapter of my novel, Reminiscence, available right here.

Well, maybe not the very first chapter, but a chapter.

My birthday is exactly one week from today, and I’m uber excited! Not because I’m looking forward to getting the books I still have to put on the list that doesn’t yet exist, but because my birthday is always the best day of the whole year. It’s the only day where it’s all about me. Everybody likes a day where they can be selfish and not feel guilty, right? You know you do.

Demi’s new CD also comes out a week from today, which is the other reason why I’m excited for my birthday. The ability to pre-order on iTunes is amazing, isn’t it?

Tuesdays are always my favorite Econ days. There’s a possiblility that we might have a quiz, and maybe even a pop test, too. But we get to sit in the classroom all day, choosing whether or not we want to pay attention. And since I read chapter 29 last night, I think it’s safe to say I’ll get plenty of writing done between now and when I come back at one o’clock.

Have a great Tuesday! Happy birthday to those born on July 14th, and remember: it’s all about you today.

Love&hugs, Meg♥
