51,000 words. #15. It feels pretty good not to feel rushed to finish.

It was a rough day for me yesterday afternoon. I think, after doing all this writing, my brain finally just shut down. Motivation has temporarily gone on vacation. I hope it comes back soon, because going out and searching for it isn’t the easiest thing in the world to do. Besides, it doesn’t really like to be dragged back by other people. It likes to come back on its own.

After today, there are seven more school days before real summer begins, and I’m more excited than you’ll ever know. I’ve given up putting full effort into the work, accepted that I’m tired of pushing myself, and now it’s all about getting out of there with a B. That’s why our teacher is offering extra credit, because without it I probably won’t make it out with the grade I want.

Speaking of school, a thought crossed my mind during class yesterday that I feel like I need to share with you.

Do you realize how much paper (and how many trees) we would save if everything was done electronically?

I’m serious! Think about it. How much paper do we waste printing out stuff, and copying stuff, etc? Especially teachers. Schools waste a ton of paper (or at least, my school does). Everyone knows how to use the Internet, right? Pretty much every high school student has e-mail, right? If teachers put everything online instead of literally handing out worksheets and tests, the amount of paper used would pretty much fall down to next to nothing.

My mom teaches a couple online classes, in which she sends her students PDF files to read, and there’s even a site that puts the tests online. All of their papers are e-mailed to her. They don’t even have to see each other! That’s a lot of gas being saved right there. I mean, I know it’s important for people to interact socially with one another, so the whole leack of face-to-face thing wouldn’t be great for high school. But why are we wasting so much paper if we have the technology not to? That’s what I want to know.

I totally wish I had more time to rant about this! So here’s what I’ll do: I’ll post another part to my “We Could Save the Planet” rant tomorrow. This is why I should wait until Saturday to have an opinion.
