Intervention

So, I kind of went extremely overboard on the whole writing thing yesterday.

See, we left on Thursday afternoon to drive (nine hours) to Minnesota (nine hours) for a wedding (nine hours away). When I got up in the morning, I typed out a good three thousand words in-between breakfast, last-minute packing (which wasn’t even that effective, it turned out, since I forgot the shoes that went along with all four dresses I ended up wearing in a span of three days) and teaching my brother how to buy songs on iTunes.

And then I lost the entire rest of the day, because we were driving—the laptop was in the trunk, and I (still) don’t actually have my own. So I kind of just sat there, watching Gilmore Girls until my DVD player died. We didn’t end up getting to the hotel until around eleven, so we just went right to sleep. No writing.

And as always, the Friday before the wedding is ten times busier than the actual wedding day, if you’re not in the wedding party and all. Between the bridal luncheon and shopping for new shoes and the rehearsal dinner (on a boat!), there wasn’t much time for writing. Which was fine, I mean, I love my family more than typing words.

Really, I only got a couple thousand words in every day that we were there. We went walking on one of the bridges (fun times), to the wedding, to the reception (I still love you, Cassie!), and then to the Mall of America the next day. Where, I feel I must add, my father and I ventured into an Apple Store–you know, where they sell laptops and things?—and didn’t buy anything. Fantastic.

We got home Monday night around six thirty, and by the time I went to sleep around ten, I had around 16,000 words. That seems like a lot, but for this next part you have to understand that I’m an extremely fast typer, and once I get going on a chapter, it’s really hard to stop.

My current ranking in the JulNoWriMo Statistics?

18.

I got up yesterday at 6:45. Not that I wanted to, or had to, or anything like that. I just had to get writing,  I HAD to get my ideas down. So from about seven o’clock yesterday morning until eleven o’clock last night—with the occasional break for breakfast, a shower, lunch, dinner, and the last of the Twizzlers left over from my graduation party—I was at my computer, on my butt, writing.

Word count as of 07/07/10, 8:06AM Chicago time: 35,218.

I need a serious intervention.

Love&hugs, Meg♥

Great idea, but will this work over the long run?
