Sunny August Day

Mood: Hungry

Right now I’m about halfway through Catalyst by Laruie Halse Anderson. Truthfully, it’s an absolutely fantastic book so far. Of course, Kate is stupid enough to apply to exactly one college, and it’s only bound to go downhill from there. I’m not a math or chemistry person, but for some reason it all makes sense to me. You’d understand if you read the book, which you should. It’s so much better than all of her other books. They’re great, don’t get me wrong, just really dark and potentially…er, never mind.

The weather is not rainy today, so I can finally push my body past its current limits and run, run, run. I don’t necessarily enjoy running, especially when I’m two blocks away from home and my calves are burning and I can’t wait to get home and drink water to my heart’s content. But I’m addicted to the feeling it gives me afterwards, a combined sense of accomplishment and temporary emptiness. It just energizes me, and helps me sleep (last night was the first night all summer that I haven’t woken up once between the time I first fell asleep and when I got up). I would say I’m addicted, but most addictions are NOT healthy, ahem.

After Catalyst, I have three more books to read before my summer reading is complete. I plan to finish up by Sunday, so that I can have the rest of August to relax and shop and do absolutely nothing else otherwise. I need that time, before August 26th arrives and they dump me off onto a campus and I have to familiarize myself with the idea of actually using my brain, which I really hope still works. I’m not completely sure, honestly. The ACT was a great reflection of that fact.

I’m running out of room on my shelves, which either means I need to start borrowing books from the library instead of Borders field trips or I need to stop reading altogether. Of course, I could just ask my dad to build me more shelves, but (1) I’m not even really going to be “living here” anymore, (2) a million other things like our garage door are broken or insufficient and my room is at the very bottom of his list of things to tackle with Bob the Builder hands, and (3) I’m sure I could clear some space for them somewhere else.

Well, time to start the day. When something relatively exciting happens to me, I’ll make sure you’re the first one(s?) to know.

Love&hugs, Meg<3
