If you don’t feel beautiful today, remember that God never intended for society to critique each other based on their shape, size, or how much lip gloss they smeared on before going out in public.
Don’t focus on what other people think of you, because everyone’s definition of beauty is different, and constantly changing. Concentrate not only on how you think you look, but how God feels about you.
Did you know that every morning, when you wake up and look in the mirror, God is begging you to smile back at what you see? Did you know that before you go to sleep, and pray that tomorrow will be a better day, He hears you?
Let’s dedicate this day, and all that follow, to God’s creation. (That’s you.) You may not feel pretty by modern standards. But when Jesus looks down at you, He’s so proud of what you have yet to become, and what you have already managed to accomplish. His love for us is so deep that we can’t even fathom how beautiful He thinks we are.
Put away the makeup. Put on your favorite outfit, smile at your reflection, and do all you can to be with the people who bring out the best (and the worst) of who you are. True friends don’t care if your hair isn’t combed, or if you’re wearing sweatpants and an old T-shirt. They’ll love you even if you forget to brush your teeth. (Maybe.)
Forget about those people who called you names. Forget theirs. That was a long time ago, and you know you’re already a better person just because you didn’t say mean things back, even though you wanted to. Forget the tears. The only reason you should be crying is because of how hard you’ve been laughing.
When you invited Christ to shape your mind and heart into the way they were meant to be, He took away the past. He gave you a new name, better friends, and a reason to live. He told you that it was okay to feel worthless. But He also told you that you weren’t.
And if Christ is a mystery to you, the only thing you need to know is this: God is everything you’ll ever need. On days you feel defeated, He will give you hope. On days you feel weak, He will give you strength.
And on days you don’t feel beautiful, He will remind you that you are.
Always.
