So it was 11:25 PM. Writing insanity officially began in 35 minutes, and I was dead-to-the-world tired. I thought, “Just 35 more minutes, and I can write a few sentences to celebrate and go to bed.” Do you think that happened?
No. Instead, I let ideas bounce around in my head all night. And guess what I came up with by the time Britt Nicole woke me up at 5 AM?
That’s right: turning the TV pilot I started a few years ago (what?) into a book.
Okay, so not a bad idea necessarily. It means a good chunk of the story is already written, and I get to play with POV and develop Ally’s character more than the pilot of the show let me do. It took 10 pages for me to get from Kim’s coffee-deprevation dilemma to Maddie’s defective combination lock. Amanda is now 4’11” and likes to paint her fingernails pink.
I don’t have time to do this. But I’m 2,097 words in, so there’s no turning back now. Right?
I’m going to regret this later.
