Reminiscence

I really managed to bump up my word count yesterday—it felt amazing.

It’s kind of funny. When I’m focusing so heavily on word count, I don’t pay attention to how many pages I’ve done. A page of 12-point font, double spaced writing is a little over 300 words. Yesterday I started writing in the morning and kept going throughout the day, and overall wrote about six thousand words. When I looked at how many pages I had altogether, I was really surrpised: 144. That’s alot.

I really don’t have much for you today. Brandon and Nikki came to visit yesterday, which was really fun. I hadn’t seen them since their wedding shower in May, so it was nice to catch up. They were totally worth blowing off a few hours of writing for.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’m going to do with myself once this book is finished. Part of me really wants to finish it—the thrill of scrolling through the final product is always an amazing feeling. But at the same time, I don’t want it to end. I’ve fallen in love with my characters. Sadly, it isn’t the kind of story that can have a sequel attached. Isn’t that sad?

Reminiscence is the first novel I’ve ever written completely in chronological order, and I must say: I like it! All that skipping around gets tiring. It would definitely speed up the writing process, but at the same time it keeps me going. If I keep writing, I’ll get to whatever’s in my head for the next chapter. Plowing through the tough points is what makes you strong as a writer. You have to have plenty of willpower.

I’m going to start early on my writing, and try to get into the #12 spot, though it’s a big jump. Have a good Sunday, and remember: you can never eat too many lean pockets.

Love&hugs, Meg♥
